The mission of the EDC is to “develop an institutional mechanism to create an entrepreneurial culture among the students, faculty and the society, also to encourage growth entrepreneurship skill at large scale”. The functioning of the cell in CE Cherthala was started in January 2017. Now we have six startup firms registered under EDC. The cell made collaboration and MoU(Memorandum of Understanding) with KSUM (Kerala StartUp Mission – A Govt. of Kerala initiative under the Ministry of Information Technology, Govt. of Kerala) head office at Technopark, Trivandrum.

KSUM selected the EDC of College of Engineering, Cherthala as one of the extension centres under Technopark TBI (Technology Business Incubator) and granted a fund of Rs.2,00,000/- for the initial works and meeting the expenses during the run. The cell made tremendous opportunity by going to be accredited under the ICT Academy (Information and Communication Technology Academy of Kerala is an organization established by the Government of Kerala to enhance the quality of graduates in the information technology sector and to generate resources for increasing the employability of students). Also, two faculties from the college got trained under EDII (Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad) for imparting quality entrepreneurial skill in students. EDC is planning different training programs for students in the new academic year for nourishing the skill in entrepreneurial activities in the college. Also, student startup will get activity points in KTU for encouraging the extra and co-curricular activities.
